A note from our latest recruit
A little bit about me before I start rambling. I graduated with B.S in Electrical Engineering in 2007. I live by myself in Richardson and wish to own a dog someday. Before even writing this entry the first thing I did like any other resourceful engineer was to google the words "Why join a start up?". Sure enough about 239 million showed up in 0.24 seconds. Skimming through the top 50 results (which turned out to be blog entries) I found a common theme boiling down to three reasons ,
1. Make lots of money
2. Be the boss of yourself
3. Hate working for a big company
Let's come back to me now. I have never had a full time job which essentially throws #2 and #3 out of the window. About making bags of money, I think joining a start up is more than becoming obscenely filthy rich. Right out of school joining SNRLabs has been great experience till date. I have an equal voice in any discussion, at any time I have my fingers deep in multiple projects and above all I share my office with my bosses who I think have been my biggest resource. I also make all my colleagues feel old about themselves
. Working with experienced professionals in the wireless field has taught me the meaning of process. Paraphrasing Chaitali, I am constantly learning the rules of the technical execution game - a skill necessary for the healthy survival of any start up.
Working for the past 3 months I hope this gives a newly minted graduate a different outlook.
